Cruises have been around forever it seems. I never really took note of them until Roger and I were sitting in New Orleans eating lunch. This was in April 2005. The restaurant was only a few hundred yards from a port where people where just about to do their muster drill (where you put your life jackets on and go through the rules if the boat sinks)! This is probably the most un-fun part of any cruise but they all looked excited.
I had never been that close to a cruise ship. I had always seen them off in the distance. I turned to Roger and told him we were going to do that! When I got home I began researching cruises and it seemed a little overwhelming. I had heard of several of the ports but knew nothing about them. I did a little research and we talked some friends of our in taking the plunge and going with us. We were both going to be in Florida in November 2006 and thought this would be a perfect opportunity.
We opted to do a 4 day Bahama's cruise on Carnival. For one we didn't know if we would like it and secondly the price was right. We paid $169 each and ended up getting upgraded. We went to Nassau and Freeport. We did not book any excursions since we were so "green" but had the time of our lives! We did a lot of exploring and learned a lot about cruising! As we got off the boat, we all knew this was something we were going to do over and over!
